(September 30) The Mustangs traveled to Spring Lake Park on Saturday for a 2 to 0 victory. Junior Goaltender Connor Petrich stopped all Panther shots to pick up the shutout.
“The boys played well as a team today,” said Head Coach Chris Scanlon. “Connor and the backline made some big plays against a good Spring Lake Park attack.”
The Mustangs got on the board first with a header goal from Danny Zamow off a corner kick from Thomas Limborg in the 23rd minute. The Panthers had opportunities in the first half with Petrich and the Mustang defenders coming up with solid plays to stop them.
Till Konczak scored on a free kick from thirty yards out in the 33rd minute to give the Mustangs a 2 to 0 lead going into halftime.
The Mustangs controlled possession in the second half and had many chances. Neither club connected on a second half goal.
The club finished the week with a 2 win and 1 loss record. Defeating White Bear Lake earlier in the week and losing to defending State Champion Stillwater. The Mustangs face Park of Cottage Grove and Cretin Derham Hall in Suburban East play next week.
